Childs View from the Gaza
In the fall of 2012, Steve Berube brought the idea to our Social Justice committee of hosting an exhibition Child’s View from the Gaza a group of drawings created by children.
A Child s View of the Gaza was created by children who survived attacks and took part in art therapy classes at six children s community centers in the Gaza. Originally, 75 drawings were created and they have been divided into 3 groups, St. Paul s will have 26 drawings on display. We believe it is an opportunity to view the effects of war through the children s perspective.
This project is an initiative of the Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East (CJPME) a non-profit and secular organization bringing together men and women of all backgrounds who strive to see justice and peace take root in the Middle East. It seeks to empower decision makers to view all sides with fairness and to promote equitable and sustainable development of the region. This exhibition is travelling across Canada and will be in our area during the end of March and early April.
Our Social Justice Committee is proud to have the exhibition at St. Paul s from April 5th until April 17th. The show will open in St. Paul s Church hall.
