A Service of Celebration and Remembrance for Bob Childs
Bob Childs, good friend of this congregation, died at the Moncton Hospital on July 27. Bob was a remarkable human being. He was a Baptist minister before moving over to the United Church, serving in the Annapolis Valley of Nova Scotia. He then joined the Correctional service, first as a prison chaplain and then in the parole office here in Moncton. He was a beloved father and grandfather. Bob was a gentle soul who had a sincere concern for people, especially those who had challenges with the law. He had a passion for social justice and was active in several groups dedicated to addressing contemporary issues. He put his faith into action and regarded St. Paul’s as a spiritual home that undergirded his commitments.
The sympathy of the congregation is extended to Shirley Childs along with the family and friends of Bob Childs. A Celebration of Life will take place at St. Paul’s United Church, 404 Cleveland Avenue on Saturday, August 17, 2024 beginning at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Shawn Redden and David-Roger Gagnon officiating, followed by a reception in the church hall.
Choir Members who wish to participate in special music on August 17, please meet in the choir room at 12:45 for rehearsal.
Bob’s Obituary is available through Cobb’s Funeral Home.
The service will be live–streamed on St. Paul’s Facebook page and our YouTube channel. All services are archived to view at a later date.
May God be with all who are grieving and grant them peace, grace and the strength they need in the days to come.
