Activities & engagement for young people
Youth
Sunday Youth
Children have a profound curiosity and a need to express themselves creatively. Even from a young age, we ask questions and wonder. It is essential to nurture that curiosity in the faith lives of our congregation.
Each Sunday, our young people are invited to join David-Roger at the front of the sanctuary for a biblical message. Sunday Youth will then be followed by a brief Christian Education lesson and related craft or activity led by one of our dedicated volunteers.
Once a month, we have games in the church hall/gym. We welcome all children and young people from the community to join us for our Sunday Youth Program for all ages.

Children & Communion
In the United Church, everyone is welcome to participate in communion. Many children are curious about this part of worship and, if it’s their first time, many parents like to discuss it with them in preparation. If you would like to discuss this with David Roger, please contact the office. In the meantime, here are a few ideas to share with children about communion:
- We share bread and grape juice, which remind us of a special meal Jesus shared with his disciples (friends), and the kind of simple meal he shared with many people he met.
- When we share communion, we remember Jesus, we thank God for our blessings, and we also pray for people in the world who need help, just like Jesus did when he ate with people.
- Christians everywhere share communion, sometimes more often than we do, and sometimes it looks different, but it’s a part of worship we all share.
Youth Group
A lot of people, of all ages, ask questions like: Who is God? Why do we go to church? What does faith mean for me? St. Paul’s is a place where it’s safe to ask those questions, with people our own age, and with spiritual leaders.
St. Paul’s is in the process of working to strengthen and grow our ministries for young adults.
Student Bursaries
Bursaries are available each year to students who are members or adherents of St. Paul’s and enrolled in a post-secondary education program. Ron Marney Memorial Recycling Bursaries ($500 each) are funded by the efforts of our dedicated recycling team at St. Paul’s. One Ruth Monteith Memorial Bursary ($500) is also available each year. Application forms are available at the church office and must be submitted by May 31.
Spiritual Growth
The Austin Memorial Theological and Spiritual Growth Fund provides financial assistance for adults, youth and children of St. Paul’s United Church to attend conferences, camps, courses and events of a church-related or spiritual nature. It is administered by the Christian Education Committee.
Applications are available from the church office and should be submitted prior to the event.
The Fund was created by the generous bequest of Ike and Marian Austin. They were both dedicated members of St. Paul’s who had a strong interest in the spiritual development of young persons and leaders in the church family and an abiding commitment to the Mission and Service work of the church.
